How do I setup communications between my PC and my Max2/MiniMax2?

Scenario 1 The PC is less than 6' from the Panel and using the included PC Software Assembly Kit (P/N 2085010)

1.  Connect the IEI -supplied ToComp (P/N E000-0004) Adapter to the Communications Port (Com Port) on your computer.

2.  Connect the IEI-supplied phone type cable to the ToComp adapter.

3.  Connect the other end of the IEI-supplied phone type cable to the RJ11A connector on the back plane of the Max2/MiniMax2 panel.

4.  Verify that the Local/Remote switch on the backplane is set to Local.

5.  Use the Windows device manager to verify which Com Ports are recognized by the computer.  If it is a
built-in Com Port, it will probably be Com1.  Take note of which Com Port you plugged the adapter into.

6.  If you are using a USB to RS-232 Serial adapter, be sure the driver has been installed according to the manufacturer's instructions.  Note which Com Port it occupies.  If the Com Port to be used with HubManager Pro occupies any Com Port above Com8, change the settings for that Com Port to be between 1 and 8.

7.  Create a site in HubManager Pro and select the following settings.

Name                                                 Site name of your choosing

Device Group                                  HC500, Hub+, HubMax, Max2

Connection Type                           Serial

8.  On the Serial Parameters tab choose the Com Port you noted in step 5 or 6, depending on your computer configuration.

9.  Run the Com Port Test on the Serial Parameters tab of the site addition screen to verify that the Com Port you have chosen is "Available for use".   Unless you suspect a problem with your Com Port, it is not necessary to run the Loop Back test.

10. Save your site.

11. Each Door Control Module must be numbered.  See the programming manual for instructions on numbering the Door Control Modules.  After completion of this step, go to the Communications Menu and choose Network Query.

12. Press Start and the HubManager Program will discover and add your doors.
