Perform the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Check the wiring from the card reader to the front end connector on the Max3 panel. The proper wiring is:
Card Reader ------ Front End
Black Black
Red Red
Green WH/BK or D0
White WH/YL or D1
2. Check the Front End Select jumper on the Door Control Module. Most card readers operate in the Wiegand format and the Max3 panel must be in Wiegand mode for card readers to work. Remove the jumper at position JP2 to place the Door Control Module in Wiegand mode; place it on one pin for safe keeping.
3. Check that you have chosen the correct Card Format when you added the users in HubManager Pro. The proper card format for HID readers will be Prox 26-Bit HID or Prox 26-Bit HID – IEI if the cards have the IEI logo on them. Your actual Card Format may be different, depending on what you have purchased.
4. Check what the site or facility code you specified when you added the user. Cards and Fobs with the IEI logo have a site code of 11. Cards or Fobs purchased from HID or other vendors will probably have a different site code. This information may be printed on your purchase invoice or the packing slip included with the cards or fobs.
5. Do a Full Export of the data to the door and retry the card.
6. Check your Access Levels. Verify that an Access Level is assigned to a door and that a Time Zone has been selected for that Access Level.
7. Do a Full Export of the data to the door and retry the card.
8. Start the Dashboard in HubManager Pro to see the reason the card doesn’t work. Possible reasons are:
a. Access Denied – Invalid Credential
- Ceck your access levels, the user has not been granted access to the door.
b. Access Denied – Bad Time zone
- Card holder does not have access at the time they tried the card.
c. Access Denied – User is Disabled
- The user is set to expire in HubManager Pro. The only controller that supports user expiration is the Max3 v2 controller. Do a network query to find out what version Door Control Module you have. No other controller supports this feature.
d. Access Denied – User Lockout Active
- A lockout user has entered their code or swiped their card and all users above their user number are locked out.
e. Access Denied – Bad Card/PIN Combo
- This user requires a card and code to access the door. Be sure that the correct code and card combination is being used.
f. Access Denied – Invalid Card Data
g. Access Denied – Unit locked down
h. Access Denied – Temp Interval Expired
- A temporary users access code has expired.
i. Access Denied –Temp Use Count Zero
- A single use card or code has been used for a second time.
9. Correct any conditions listed above and do another Full Export of the data to the door.
