Q; Some competitive PERS products offer fall detectors, or other approaches that allow for emergency communications, even if the subscriber can't press their button.
Can Linear PERS products do this?
A: Yes, Linear products have three different modes that allow for emergency reporting and/or communications that don't require a button press from the subscriber.
1) Activity Monitoring is emphasized by some Linear Dealers, who increase peace-of-mind for subscribers and their families in the event that the client can't press their PERS button. Some include it in their service package, and some provide Activity Monitoring for a monthly upcharge.
Note - the standard Activity Monitor feature of our PERS products, able to be integrated with motion detectors, door/window devices is seen as preferable to fall detectors for some applications because of the accuracy concerns (common published specs are in the 95% accuracy range).
2) The Linear PERS3600 offers additional capabilities in this area with its real-time clock, providing message reminders that can be used to determine if a subscriber is up and about. The product offers a variable "grace period" of 15-30 minutes, with the option to report to the CS if the subscriber is unable to check in.
3) The PERS3600 Console also allows for family or caregivers to call the PERS console and have a 2-way voice speakerphone call - even if the subscriber can't reach a phone or their transmitter button.

Linear continues to look at technologies in this area, because we understand that getting help quickly to a subscriber who has had a fall event can make a big difference in their outlook to remain independent.
