PERS 2-way voice coverage & transmitter range

Q: What happens if our PERS subscriber presses their transmitter button, but is too far away from the console to have a 2-way voice sessions with the Central Monitoring Station?

A: Following the Installation & Operation instructions, centrally locating the PERS console provides audible two-way voice coverage throughout most client's homes.  Voice coverage should be tested at the time of installation, and subscribers in larger homes should be made aware of the RSM-1 (wired remote speaker microphone) available to extend voice coverage.

If the CS has difficulty hearing the client in VOX mode, they should be instructed to toggle to 2-way manual (pressing "1" to talk, "3" to listen) which allows for maximum mic sensitivity, as well as full speaker amplification.

Our PERS2400 and 3600 Installation & Operation Manuals specify the Maximum RF range at 400 ft,  line-of-sight, open range. (The new LRP/LRW pendants increase this range by approx 20%...)   Testing confirms this capability, which in real-world application allows a client to roam to their mailbox, or do gardening nearby their home.

This means subscribers can have an event within RF range of the console, but beyond audio range to conduct 2-way voice, even with remote speaker/microphone units installed.  In that case, each PERS provider will have their own protocol of how to progress through the response options (call the client, call the next-door neighbor, call the son/daughter, etc.) and proceed to dispatch 9-1-1 emergency personnel even if 2-way voice cannot be established.
