This will allow you to trigger a door strike, maglock, or gate or door operator locally without the need to run a pair of wires from the access panel out to the door or gate location; all you need is the PBUS cable.
The 12VDC power supply is used to power the RBSN.
In programming, you can choose one relay as the control channel for all CRIs using this setup; the panel needs an output channel, and since the access granted LED1 only operates for that PBUS address, there’s no problem with the wrong RBSN being triggered.
Using this setup, you can have up to six card reader activated relay outputs, plus the three on the panel (the fourth relay is used for all of the CRI/RBSN relays, giving you a total of up to nine doors.
Theory of operation: Normally, when the panel grants access, the LED1 terminal in the AM-CRI shorts to ground and activates the red LED in the reader. In this case, we’re grounding the RBSN’s negative terminal which activates the relay.
