The DXSR-1504, DXSR-1508, and the SXR-64A receivers have what is known as open collector outputs. In an open collector output, a transistor shorts to common when the output is triggered (Normally Open output), or the output shorts to common through the transistor and goes open when triggered (Normally Closed output). Open collector output is not a new technology and has been used in Linear receivers for more than 20 years. Most alarm panels will recognize open collector output providing certain precautions are taken. These precautions include keeping the distance between the receiver and the panel within ten feet; closer is better, and the output should be the only trigger on a zone.
One way to get around the distance limitation as well as not sharing a zone is to use an Altronix RBSN relay on the output of the receiver. The RBSN only draws 10 mA, and the contacts are rated at 2 Amps. The RBSN is connected with the plus side of the coil connected to the plus 12 Volt power input of the receiver. The minus side of the coil connects to the desired channel output of the receiver with the receiver set to Normally Open output (see attached drawing). This setup will give you a dry relay contact output which will operate anything (low voltage) that requires a relay contact input.
