How do I add/change or delete a user?

The basic format for adding or changing a user code is (user number # code * code *) where:

User Number = the number of the user in the list of users held internally by the keypad.  Keypads in the 212 and 232 series have the capacity of 120 users.  Users are “numbered” from 1 to 120 in the case of a 212 or 232 keypad.  Other keypads and controllers may have higher or lower user capacity.  For example, the ProxPad can hold 2000 users, and they will be numbered from 1 to 2000.

On all keypads User Number 1 is reserved for the Master User.  This user has complete control over programming of the keypad, and this code should be kept secure and not used as a general entry code.

Some keypads may also have User Number 2 reserved for a Supervisor User.  This user has the ability to add, change or delete users.  This user code should be kept secure and not be used as a general entry code.

# = the pound sign key to the right of the zero key

Code = A 1 to 6-digit number code to be assigned to the user

* = the star key to the left of the zero key

To add a user or change a user code, do the following:

Determine what User Number you will be adding or changing.  Typically, your users will start at User Number 3.

Enter programming mode by pressing 99 # MasterCode *

If you do not know the Master Code, you can get into programming mode by pressing the SW1 switch located on the inside of the keypad on the main circuit board.  If your keypad does not have the SW1 switch, you can use the Programming Mode Loopback method to get into programming mode.  This is described in the document entitled, "How do I get into programming mode?" on this site.

The yellow LED will be flashing or the sounder will be beeping on those keypads without a yellow LED.

Type User Number # code * code * to add a userAdditional users can be added while in programming mode.  Maintain a list of User Numbers and User Codes for future reference.

If there was a programming error, the yellow LED will be a solid yellow or the sounder will have a continuous tone.  Press the * key to clear the error.  Repeat the process using the correct sequence.

You can add or change more users if necessary without leaving programming mode.

When you are finished, you can leave programming mode by pressing the * key.

Test the code.

To delete a user, press the following keys:

Determine what User Number you want to delete.

Type the User Number # * * to delete a user.

Press a final * to leave programming mode.

The user will be deleted.
