How do I upgrade to the latest version?
3. In the application select Setup : System Maintenance : Update Software.
4. Backup your security database by selecting the Backup Database link.
5. In the Backup Database section enter a descriptive comment about this backup. This
comment will later appear above under Existing Backups.
6. Click Backup Now to copy the current security database to ROM on the Controller/Node module. The database will also backup to the network storage location if one is configured. It may take the network controller a couple of minutes to complete this operation.
7. Now save a copy of this backup to your pc. Click the get link and in the dialog box select
Save to Disk and then click Save.
8. To ensure that all Nodes in the system are enabled and connected select Setup : Site
Setting : Network Controller. Check that all system nodes appear in the Current Status
section on this page in green, showing that they are connected. This is important for ensuring that Nodes are also updated.
9. Select Setup : System Maintenance : Update Software.
10. Upload to the network controller board the first/next file you need by clicking the Upload a system patch file (*.tgz) link. CAUTION: If you have a system with more than one node ensure that port 7262 is open through routers and firewalls for communications between the Network Controller and all Nodes. In addition, if you are upgrading from system version 1.3 or lower, port 69 must be open to the Network Controller for the onboard TFTP Server to pass software updates to the Nodes. Consult with the network administrator for assistance with this. If these ports are not properly open for communication between the controller and nodes then the update cannot be completed.
11. Click Apply the update file.
12. Select the appropriate upgrade file by clicking the checkbox in the Apply? Column and then click Apply Update Now.
13. Close your browser. The duration of this process may vary from one to fifteen minutes. When the operation is complete the Controller will reboot and beep. There may be several minutes interruption in the operation of portals as the node(s) download the update from the controller.
14. Return to step 10 for the next required update file. Continue this process until all required files have been uploaded and applied.
15. Select Administration : Reports : History : General Event History.
16. Uncheck the All event types box.
17. Check the Network Node events box and click Run report.
18. Confirm that the node upgrade event has occurred.
19. Select Support/Utility : About.
20. In the Support Information section, note the Software version number information. This
should be an upgraded software version from what you noted in step 2 above.
CAUTION: After the completion of the software upgrade DO NOT restore your database. The database is upgraded during the upgrade process and restoring an earlier version’s database will render your system nonfunctional.
21. Select Administration : Utility : Backup Database and make a backup of your new version 2.2 database.
22. Select Setup : System Maintenance : Utilities and delete older database backups.
