Vista and Windows 7 don't handle files the same way as Windows XP. When AccessBase (AB) or AccessBase2000 (AB2K) are installed in the Program Files, Vista and Windows 7 encrypt data, including backup files, for security purposes. During normal, day-to-day operation, this works fine, but if the time ever comes that you need to restore a backup, the program will report there are no backups to restore. This happens because Windows has "hidden" and encrypted the files. To simplify operation, the following link explains the steps to install AB or AB2K in a different location than the default Program Files folder.
