We have an opening in the following department:

Department: Engineering
Senior Software Engineer/Platform Architect

This position works with product managers, electronics and mechanical engineers to develop software for new microprocessor-based products from concept to production.

The ideal candidate will possess a BSEE degree or equivalent and 7+ years microcontroller design experience with real-time embedded systems, as well as experience in defining complete software architectures for medium complexity products.

This position requires:

• Participation in the complete software development lifecycle from requirements analysis to product deployment
• Responsibility for the software architectures of platforms for product families, including processor sizing and selection, RTOS selection, participating in hardware/software trades, and software partitioning for extensibility/maintainability of platforms
• Familiarity with modern software development processes, including experience with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review
• Must have excellent documentation and writing skills with experience in generating concise software requirements, defining software verification tests and generating well-documented software packages
• Experience in programming with “C” programming language
• Familiarity with Windows application programming using Visual Studio
• Knowledge of TCP/IP network communications protocols
• Hands-on development on embedded targets using in-circuit debuggers, and basic electronic test equipment, including scopes and logic analyzers
• Participation in the definition of technology and product roadmaps for future Linear products
  
  Experience with Microchip PIC, ARM processors and ARM development tools highly desired (Green Hills MULTI, GNUARM/WINARM). Experience in developing software for telephone entry access control systems and security systems a plus.
