Validation Groups (often called security levels) allow you to restrict a person from gaining access by doors via door schedules, or day and time via time zones. In addition, time zones can be assigned to relays to create an auto lock/unlock schedule. Also, the telephone directory is configured in this area. For this tutorial, we will do the following:
1) To create a validation group, go to Setup > Global. The following screen appears:

2) Click on the Time Zones tab. The following screen appears:

3) In a time zone, you can select what days of the week you want the user to have access by clicking on the specific day to enable or disable the day. You will select what time of day by RIGHT clicking on the timeline adjacent to the applicable time zone. You will see a visual indication of the time zone in the form of a blue bar. The following is what the screen should look like after setting up a time zone (TZ #1) to be active Monday - Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M, and a time zone (TZ#15) to be active Monday - Friday, 7:15 A.M. to 4:45 P.M.:

4) You may also restrict access by door. Click on the Door Schedule tab. From there, you can select which doors you wish the validation group to have access to. If you wish to restrict access to a door, click on the door. The following is what the screen will look like with access restricted to the Lobby Door, Back Door & Supply Room:

5) To assign a time zone to a relay to create an auto lock/unlock schedule, go to Setup > Network and click on the node that contains the relay that you wish to assign the auto lock/unlock schedule to. Click on Setup, then the Relays tab. The screen will look like this:

6) Click on the Up or Down key next to the relay that you wish to assign a time zone to. Click OK after the desired time zone is displayed.
7) If this is an AE-1 or AE-2 telephone entry system, you will need to configure the directory. To do this, click on the Telephone Directory screen. The screen will look like this:

8) In the Max directory entries, type in the maximum number of directories that you anticipate having. Note: You can always increase the number of directory entries, providing you have the memory available. Be careful if you choose to decrease the number of directory entries, since you may delete entries!
9) To change the directory code length, click on the Directory Code Length drop down box and select the number of digits that you wish to be in the directory code.
